About the visit of Prof. Kroening, the Director of NDT Institute of Fraunhofer Society (IZFP) to E.O.Paton Electric Welding Institute
E.O.Paton Electric Welding Institute of NAS of Ukraine (E.O.Paton EWI) has been visited by the delegation from of NDT Institute of Fraunhofer Society (IZFP) including the Director of IZFP, Executive Director of International Scientific and Technical Centre (ISTC) Professor Michael Kroening and the engineer from ISTC Karina Eichhorn. The negotiations between Professor Boris Paton (Director of E.O.Paton EWI), Prof. Michael Kroening and Professor Vladimir Troitskij (Head of NDT Departament) took place.
The both sides presented the main directions in the activities of their organizations on NDT and outlined ways of cooperation including elaboration of scientifically founded technologies on evaluating the residual resourses of operating installations. The both sides reached an understanding as to collaboration between E.O.Paton EWI and IZFP. The 11th Conference and Exhibition "Modern Methods and Means of NDT and Technical Diagnostics
From 6 till 10 October 2003 the traditional 11-th International Conference and Exhibition "Modern Methods and Means of Non-Destructive Testing and Technical Diagnostics" was successfully being held in Yalta. It was organized by Ukrainian Research Centre "Science. Engineering, Technology" (Kiev), the Societies for NDT of Ukraine, Russia and Byelorussia as well as Dnepropetrovsk National University and Science Production Enterprise "Mashinostroyeniye" (Dnepropetrovsk). "Diagnostic Devices" Company (Kiev) was the sponsor of this event. The participants were accomodated in the holiday hotel "Druzhba" located on the very seashore just near Livadiya.
180 specialists from the Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Byelorussia, Lithuania and Germany who represented 28 industrial establishments, 18 higher educational institution, research institutes and designers offices, 29 science production companies, 19 expert and diagnostic centres as well as public organizations took part at the conference. 111 papers were submitted and 60 of them were heard presented the results of their researches and elaborations on the wide range of NDT methods: ultrasonic, radiographic, eddy current, magnetic, acoustic emission, radiowave, visual, leak testing, holographic interpherometry and others on ways of diagnostics and prognostication of the residual resources of construction; on the evaluation of physical and mechanical characteristics of different materials; on the questions concerning vibrodiagnostics; on some other directions relating to NDT.
Simultaneously with the main conference, the seminar for NDT operators organized by Crimean Regional Division of USNDT was being held in Yalta. More than 60 NDT specialists participated in the seminar.
