Standardisation in NDT Field |

The work on standardisation in Ukraine is led by the State Committee of Ukraine on Standardisation, Metrology and Certification (Gosstandardt). All the USSR standards (GOSTs) are valid in Ukraine, and several dozens of them were elaborated in the NDT field.
For continuation of the work on standardisation in the field of NDT&TD, Gosstandardt set up a Technical Committee on Standardisation ‘Technical Diagnostics and Non-Destructive Testing’ (TC-78). This is a social organisation which unites the leading experts on TD&NDT, and determines the priority areas of work, and qualified performers in the field of TD&NDT. Its main aim is unification of the standards of Ukraine with the European norms. The activity of E.O.Paton Electric Welding Institute in the sphere of standardisation
The Technical Committees TC-44, TC-78 deal with questions of welding industry, with headquarters in the territory of E.O.Paton Electric Welding Institute. Committee TC-44, called "Welding and related processes", is engaged into developing a base of normative documents providing quality system of welding process. Over 500 standards have been elaborated and harmonized by this Committee lately. The other Technical Committee (TC-78) with its headquarters in the territory of E.O.Paton Electric Welding Institute as well is called "Technical Diagnostics and Non-Destructive Testing". It is engaged into elaborating normative documents on NTD&TD of high risk objects. This direction provides testing and evaluation of technical condition and residual resource and produces objects monitoring. Technical Committee TC-78 deals with normative documents of different Standards: from standards of enterprises to state ones – DSTU harmonizes international standards by means of ISO and EN standards. The standards worked out exactly by this Committee are widely adopted and they regulate demands upon staff, laboratories, centres of personnel preparing and certification. The Committee is highly appreciated for its working out and adopting DSTU EN 473-2001 concerning international three-level preparing and certification of NDT personnel in main physical testing methods.
