Personnel Certification

Ukraine has a large number of higher and secondary special educational establishments. The majority of the technical universities and colleges were included into the Programme of training specialists in ‘Physical Non-Destructive Methods of Testing the Quality of Materials and Products’, ‘Methods and Instruments of Introscopy’, ‘Quality Control of Welded Joints’, etc. Training of NDT experts is also performed by specialised Educational Centres which function at the large production associations (for instance, AO ‘Motor Sich’, AO ‘Khartsyzsk Pipe-Manufacturing Plant’, AO ‘Novokramatorsk Machine-Building Plant’, and others); industry training centres functioning at NPPs, Ministry of Power Generating Industry, Ministry of Industry and other ministries. The E.O.Paton Electric Welding Institute also has and Interindustry Educational Centre.

The three-level system of NDT experts certification, which corresponds to the EN ISO 9712, is introduced in Ukraine. With the aim of the most expedient transition to EN 473 and ISO 9712, the National Certification Committee of Ukraine on NDT was established by the initiative of USNDT. The Committee has the tasks of preparing the programs, procedures, questionnaires for carrying out the certification. It is a non-profit organisation which is in charge of the methodological issues of certification in the USNDT.

Certification Center of Ukrainian Society for Non-destructive Testing (CC of USNDT) was founded in 2002. It is an independent Certification Body of Ukraine for the personnel working in the field of non-destructive testing and technical diagnostics.

CC of USNDT was accredited by National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine in 2007 and is monitored on a periodic basis. It has the recognition of Russian Society for NDT. It is well known in many countries of former CIS: Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Tadzhikistan, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Belorussia . Certification Center of USNDT carried out several projects with International Atomic Energy Agency on training and certification of NDT personnel.

CC of USNDT initiates, promotes, maintains and administers procedures for certification of NDT personnel according to the requirements of European Standard EN ISO 9712 “Non-destructive Testing – Qualification and certification of NDT personnel – General principles” and fulfils the requirements of EN ISO/IEC 17024 “Conformity assessment – General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons”.

CC of USNDT established properly staffed and equipped seven NDT Training Centers and four Examination Centers all over the Ukraine which are working according to the training syllabuses covering facilities, calibration and control equipment, specimens, etc.
